Free Radicals and Antioxidants - Should you be concerned? The basic requirements for life may be killing you: the air you breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat. What goes on in your body
every second. Scientists now know that free radical damage is at the very root of everything from wrinkles to frightening degenerative diseases like arthritis, cancer and heart disease. Watch this short Video about Free Radicals
So, what’s the problem? Study finds residues of pesticides in 53% of baby food samples.
What can I do? U.S. Department of Agriculture reveals that only 1% of our children are getting the required nutritional recommendations for the 5 basic food groups (fruits, grains, meat, dairy and vegetables). 16% of the study group did not meet any of the recommendation.
Do I need to supplement? I eat my 6 servings of vegetables everyday and have a well balanced diet and I exercise regularly.
Watch this short Video - The Need to Supplement That’s a good start! While many of us strive to maintain a good healthy diet, quality nutrition and optimal health cannot be obtained from commercially processed food which is grown in nutrient deficient soils. This in itself has been a growing problem over the last 50 years. Our soils are lacking many of the essential micro-nutrients and food processing methods are destroying large percentages of the remaining nutritional value. Unfortunately, many of us do not maintain a well balanced diet. We eat too much junk food. We are too sedentary; we are spending too much time watching TV, playing video games, working and playing on our computers, etc. As a result, obesity and childhood diseases are at epidemic levels. The only way we can maintain our health and fill the void in our nutritional intake is to exercise, eat a well-balanced diet and consume quality nutritional supplements. If you could increase your life span by 5 years and maintain your health, would it be worth the effort and money to take daily supplements?
I've heard
that vitamins are a waste of money. A recent independent Canadian study reviewed 197 children's nutritional products from Canada and the U.S. Only 115 of these products provided sufficient nutritional detail to be considered for further evaluation. The final criteria identified 100 products which were subjected to complete graphical analysis. Click here to see the children's rankings. This same study was applied to adult nutritional products. 254 products out of 440 qualified for complete analysis. Click here to see the adult rankings. All Supplements Are Not Created Equal We know that daily vitamin and mineral supplementation is required to maintain optimal cellular nutrition. However, impurities in many supplements can be more harmful than good - purity is paramount. You typically get what you pay for. Look for products that surpass the highest standards for quality, purity and guaranteed potency. These products will show compliance with U.S. and Canadian Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs) for pharmaceuticals. Verify that the products are formulated to meet USP standards for full disintegration and dissolution. Potency should be guaranteed for a specified shelf-life. Highest quality products will be listed in the Physicians' Desk Reference (PDR). Beware of products that are delivered in a single dose (a once-a-day tablet simply cannot provide the level of potency needed for optimal nutrition without being too large to swallow). Ingredients should be in the most bioavailable form (mineral salts are not as well absorbed as chelated minerals or minerals bound to an organic carrier). The products should be independently tested and guaranteed for potency and safety. Determine if the product is manufactured in-house or contracted out to the lowest bidder! If your product meets all these criteria, you know that you have a nutritional supplement of exceptional quality. If it doesn't, keep looking.
